The President's Fund

About The President’s Fund

Valley Children’s began as the vision of five young mothers who saw the need for a hospital just for kids. For 65 years we have cared for millions of children and grown into one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the nation. Despite our growth, we have and will always be wholly owned by the people of our Valley. We believe it is our Valley, our Hospital, and our children that deserve the very best care available – and we won’t stop striving to be better until we are the best.

The creation of The President’s Fund stemmed from Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak’s dedication to building upon our organization’s history of tremendous community support. Bound by their shared dedication to the mission, President’s Fund members are a diverse group of community leaders that assist our CEO and organizational leadership in achieving our vision of becoming the nation’s best children’s hospital.

Your Impact

President’s Fund members have made a broad impact on the care provided throughout the Valley Children’s Healthcare network. Members made sure that transportation, lodging, and other obstacles didn’t impede the health of kids in the Valley, investing more than $348,000 in support through the Patient Help Fund.

When the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units found a solution for patients with feeding tubes or tracheostomies who were experiencing complications while away from the hospital, President’s Fund members made their life-saving idea a reality. Patients now have their own emergency travel bags with all the needed items and training for caretakers. When the Imaging Department realized MRI appointments had to be rescheduled because families hadn’t read fasting instructions and that many patients were anxious, The President’s Fund members supported a kid-friendly instructional video that is shared when appointments are booked. Sedation has been used less and families feel more prepared for the procedures.

Since the inception of The President’s Fund, there have been more than 26 employee-driven improvement projects totaling $189,129.
