Karla Sherwood, DO
I grew up in Santa Cruz County and went to UC Berkeley, where I majored in Urban Studies. After graduating I worked for an environmental non-profit for a couple years and then spent a short stint as a medical assistant before deciding I really did want to be a doctor. I completed my post bacc program at Bennington College in Vermont and then made my way back to the Bay Area to get my DO/MPH dual degree at Touro University in Vallejo.
Why I chose Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program:
The opportunity to provide care for an underserved population, the high patient volume and acuity, and the warm and welcoming environment make this stand-alone children’s hospital a wonderful and fulfilling place to work and to learn.
Backpacking, swimming, loop hikes, reading, trying to get the baby Meyer lemon tree on my balcony to grow a lemon
