(Madera, California) – Walmart and Sam’s Club associates, customers and members around the Central Valley put their money where the miracles are during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising campaign. This year’s drive ran from Aug. 27 to Oct. 7 and raised more than $292,924 for Valley Children’s Hospital.
“We are so fortunate to have global leaders like Walmart and Sam’s Club supporting Valley Children’s and other children’s hospitals around the country,” said Valley Children’s Healthcare Foundation President Robert Saroyan. “On behalf of the entire team at Valley Children’s and the families we serve, thank you to Walmart’s local leadership, associates and customers for their continued generosity supporting Valley Children’s.”
Walmart and Sam’s Club associates from Porterville to Merced held various in-store fundraising activities and asked customers and members at the register to help kids live better. Since 1987, Central Valley Walmart and Sam’s Club locations have raised more than $3.8 million for Valley Children’s Hospital.
Nationally, Walmart and Sam’s Club have raised $36.5 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. That pushed the total raised in the United States and Canada over the $1 billion mark since the stores began fundraising in 1987. This is the largest amount ever raised for a nonprofit by one single company in North America.
“The $1 billion raised by Walmart and Sam’s Club customers, members and associates has changed the world of children’s healthcare,” said John Lauck, president and CEO of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “Because of their generosity, tens of millions of kids across the U.S. and Canada are living better.”
Walmart and Sam's Club funds impact each of the 170 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, which treat one in 10 children across North America each year. Hospitals use the funds based on what they need most — typically providing lifesaving equipment and research, supporting top therapy programs and providing charitable care.
