Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Travis Vesel joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric intensivist in July 2023.

Dr. Vesel comes to Valley Children’s from Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, where he was an assistant professor in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit in the department of pediatrics since 2015.

After earning his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Vesel stayed with the institution to complete an internship in general surgery and residency in pediatrics. He continued his specialized training as a pediatric critical care fellow at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and an additional year of fellowship in pediatric cardiovascular intensive care at Texas Children’s Hospital. 

Dr. Vesel’s clinical interests include critically ill infants and children, global health, and congenital heart disease. He is also active with a global health organization focused on program building for cardiac surgical and intensive care in low resource countries. He also has a professional interest in medical education and training to help shape future health professionals.
