Board certified in anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology, Dr. Sri Smitha Kanaparthy joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric anesthesiologist in 2020.

Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Kanaparthy was an assistant professor in the department of anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine in Connecticut and previously, at the University of Oklahoma Health and Sciences Center. She was also the director of anesthesia services for magnetic resonance imaging at The Children’s Hospital at Oklahoma University Medical Center.

Outside of the classroom, Dr. Kanaparthy has shared her expertise as a pediatric anesthesiologist through various posters, presentations and peer-reviewed journals including Blood Coagul Fibrinolysis. Active in her field, Dr. Kanaparthy is a member of the Society for Pediatric Anesthesiology and American Society of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Kanaparthy earned her medical degree and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from Jawaharlal Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Education and Research in India. In India, she completed residencies in neuro-anesthesiology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences and in anesthesiology at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Kanaparthy went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

In addition to English, Dr. Kanaparthy also speaks Hindi, Telugu and Tamil fluently.
