Board certified in obstetrics gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. William Gilbert joined Valley Children’s Maternal Fetal Center in 2020.

Prior to joining Valley Children’s, Dr. Gilbert served as the regional medical director of women’s services at Sutter Health. Dr. Gilbert has also been appointed to several academic positions, including professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis.

Dr. Gilbert is a member of many organizations, including the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine and the Society for the Study of Fetal and Neonatal Physiology. He also serves as a fellow for the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society and American College of OB/GYN. In addition to his involvement in medical associations, Dr. Gilbert’s work has been presented and published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and books, including numerous issues of American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Journal of Maternal-Fetal & Neonatal Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has also served as a guest editor for Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology.

After receiving his medical degree from the University of Missouri, Dr. Gilbert went on to complete his residency at Georgetown University’s Department of OB/GYN in Washington, D.C. Following his residency, he spent a year in London at the Dreyfus Foundation and then went on to complete a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the University of California, San Diego.
