Board certified in general pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine, Dr. J. Bryan Cooper-Sood joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric emergency physician in 2018. 

Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Cooper-Sood worked in the urgent care at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Benioff Children’s Hospital of Oakland and was a member of the Sexual Assault Forensic Team (SAFE). During his time in the Bay area, Dr. Cooper-Sood also worked at UCSF Mission Bay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in San Francisco as an attending physician.

Dr. Cooper-Sood has been involved with several emergency department initiatives, including quality improvement in the care of asthma, clinical practice guidelines for the evaluation of pediatric cervical spine injuries and in supervising Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) learners and mock codes for pediatric residents. In addition, he has been published in peer reviewed journals such as Pediatric Emergency Care, Pediatric Emergency Medicine Practice and Head and Neck. He has also presented at conferences including the Pediatric Academic Society (PAS).

Dr. Cooper-Sood received his medical degree with honors from University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He did his residency in general pediatrics at UCSF and completed his fellowship at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital of Oakland.
