An amazing show of support for Valley Children’s! This year’s Kids Day raised a record-breaking $628,611 in donations – the most collected in the event’s 30-year history.
More than 7,000 volunteers (also a record!) sold special 30th Anniversary Kids Day editions of The Fresno Bee on Tuesday, March 7. The papers sold for a suggested donation of $1 each in Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, Mariposa, Kings and Tulare counties. This year’s fundraising goal was $625,000.
“The 30th Annual Kids Day proved to be our most successful yet and I have such enormous gratitude to everyone who came out in support of Kids Day this year,” says Valley Children’s President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “The milestones we reached are impressive - a record number of volunteers helped us exceed our donations goal. The time, effort and spirit that made this Kids Day so special are what allow us to care for the children of the Valley and give them access to care like no one else. Thank you from everyone at Valley Children’s!”
Over the last three decades, Kids Day has raised more than $8.5 million for “The Children’s Fund.” Last year, donations helped Valley Children’s rank as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country in neonatology in U.S. News & World Report’s “2016-2017 Best Children’s Hospitals;” receive Level II trauma designation to become the only Pediatric Trauma Center in Central California; provide a record volume of more than 350,000 inpatient and outpatient visits; support more than 122,000 visits to our Emergency Department and perform 15,104 surgeries.
