Nathan Powell

VP, Chief Risk Officer

Nathan Powell serves as Chief Risk Officer at Valley Children's Healthcare. In this role, Nathan oversees enterprise risk management at Valley Children’s and leads a dedicated team responsible for identifying, assessing and mitigating operational risks across the organization.

Before joining Valley Children’s, Nathan spent 20 years as a healthcare attorney in private practice, representing physicians, medical groups, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers and other healthcare practitioners in various business arrangements and complex matters. This provided Nathan with invaluable insight into challenges facing healthcare and its providers, and a deep appreciation for the importance of developing proactive risk mitigation strategies.

Nathan received his juris doctorate degree, with Great Distinction, from McGeorge School of Law. He is an active member of the American Society for Health Care Risk Management (ASHRM), California Society of Healthcare Attorneys (CSHA) and the American Hospital Association (AHA).

In his free time, Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids and two pugs.
