Outpatient Rehabilitation

Outpatient Rehabilitation at Valley Children's Hospital offers therapy and diagnostic services for children with physical, developmental, sensory, cognitive and communicative impairments. We provide comprehensive assessment, intervention and education with the goal of helping each child achieve his or her optimal level of function. Our team is staffed by professionals who combine their rehabilitation knowledge with an understanding of children and the unique challenges they present. Optimally, parents are included within intervention sessions for training and to promote home follow-through of the treatment plan.

Designed to meet the specific needs of children undergoing physical therapy and occupational therapy, the large customized Therapy Center features: exam rooms; two spacious gyms with sports-related orthopaedic rehabilitation equipment and specialized equipment to work on sensory deficits, balance and coordination; a smaller private gym; and designated treatment areas/rooms for infants and toddlers.

Dedicated space for Audiology services consists of state-of-the-art equipment in their five audiologic suites, two hearing aid labs, two hearing diagnostic rooms and a Hearing Aid Dispensing Office. Speech-therapy services actively occur within seven individual treatment rooms and a multipurpose room for groups.

Open lines of communication exist with physicians, other allied healthcare professionals, educators and support services, as well as community agencies to ensure effective and continuous patient care. Therapy staff from the inpatient and outpatient venues work together to ensure that continuity of care is provided as the child transitions to outpatient therapy.

Referrals are accepted from hospital and community-based physicians. For audiology and speech-language therapy, parents and caregivers may also refer as self-pay patients.
