At Valley Children’s Pediatric Rehabilitation Center, our board-certified physiatrists direct the care of patients in the inpatient rehabilitation center, with onsite consultation available from all pediatric specialties. Physiatrists are specially trained physicians to focus on physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) and are skilled in treating a wide variety of medical conditions. As the only pediatric rehabilitation program in the region, our expert team offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care. Our multi-professional team provides specialized therapies and nursing care to treat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex in patients from birth to young adult.

While our team provides expert rehabilitative care, we take a very personal and hopeful approach to all aspects of recovery or long term care. Our goal is your goal – improved quality of life with continuous improvement in mobility, self-care, cognition, communication and socialization. The objective of every child’s treatment plan is a safe and successful transition back to home, school/work and community life. We are here to support, teach and encourage you during this process so that your child can achieve a bright future.

The goal of our program is to provide the highest quality pediatric rehabilitation care tailored to meet the individual medical, physical, developmental, social, psychosocial and educational needs of each child and family. We strive to optimize services and care to restore maximal independence to the child and family and provide support as they transition back to home and school.

Accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities

Our 20-bed unit is accredited as an Inpatient Rehabilitation Pediatric Specialty Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) making Valley Children’s one of only two pediatric facilities in the state with this impressive designation, and one of only five on the West Coast. CARF Accreditation is an internationally recognized award that is given to organizations that demonstrate commitment to providing the highest quality care and services.

Goal-Focused, Family-Centered Rehabilitative Care

Our patient-focused, family-centered care continues throughout rehabilitation at Valley Children’s. The length of stay for inpatient rehabilitation varies based on a very individualized approach. Families are critical partners in the development and ongoing reassessment of each child’s culturally appropriate treatment plan. Our team will work closely with you to determine the best treatment plan and method to continually assess progress toward meeting functional goals.

Family time is important to continuous progress. We encourage family members to stay with their child while they are receiving inpatient services to provide as normal of a setting as possible. We can accommodate two parents or family members overnight for those who choose to room with their child during their rehabilitation stay. Free RV parking with hookups is available for patient families’ convenience. Designed for families’ easy access and comfort, our Rehab Center features common areas, a laundry facility and a playground area.

The rehab team meets once a week to discuss progress, goal achievements and updates to treatment plans. In addition, we provide family meetings and ongoing training for family members to understand care at home.
