Family at big event

Big Event Coming Up? Don’t Miss These 4 Safety Tips

Whether you are planning on attending Fresno State games, the Big Fresno Fair or any big events throughout the year, it is always important to have fun while staying safe.

A little preparation goes a long way so, here are 4 safety tips to follow for big events:

  1. Make sure children are aware of trusted adults at the events like police officers, security guards and event staff
  2. Establish a designated meeting spot with paths on where to meet your group
  3. Dress for visibility - dress children in bright colors so they can be easily spotted throughout crowds
  4. Stay hydrated and carry any vital healthcare information with parents or on the child’s person. Some of these materials may include:
    1. A card with child’s name and parental contact information
    2. List of allergies and/or chronic conditions
    3. Any necessary medications
    4. Immunization records
    5. List of past medical history
    6. List of any family medical history

Pro Tip: Consider writing your number on your child's arm in permanent marker to ensure someone can contact you if they get lost

What to teach your child before you go out:

  1. Make sure their cell phone is fully charged and has important phone numbers saved; family members, guardians and 911. Check out our other post to learn how to teach kids the best ways to call 911 here
  2. Have a plan set in place of where to go, walking routes and all emergency exits at the venue
  3. Never be afraid to ask for help

Reminder for parents and kids

By following these safety tips, children can enjoy their night and make lots of memories while families can have peace of mind attending these big events.
