Each football season, we team up with Fresno State for a once in a lifetime experience for a few lucky patients. At every home football game, one Valley Children’s patient is selected to be the Kid Captain of the game. They get to participate in the coin toss with the team, along with being part of the on-field festivities. For the 2024 season, we have six special Kid Captains to introduce you to the day before each big game!

Meet Charlie!

Charlie is a music-loving 14-year-old who enjoys playing the clarinet and hanging out with his friends!

When he was born, it was discovered Charlie had Thalassemia, a chronic, inherited blood disorder that prevents the body from producing enough hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Charlie sees our team in our Hematology clinic to help manage his Thalassemia.

Charlie has big plans for his future and wants to be a teacher to help make a difference in students' lives like his teachers have done for him.

Cheer on Charlie and the Bulldogs as they take on the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at Valley Children’s Stadium on November 2!
