Meet Our Program Leaders

Dr. Kerrilynn Rice and Dr. Sindhura GandhamA message from Dr. Sindhura Gandham, Program Director and Dr. Kerrilynn Rice, Associate Program Director

Welcome to the Valley Children’s Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship. We are excited you are exploring our program and finding what makes our fellowship unique.

Valley Children’s Healthcare is the only freestanding children's hospital serving a vast and diverse region between the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. Our institution cares for children across more than 45,000 square miles, many from historically underserved communities. This setting provides fellows with the opportunity to develop broad clinical expertise while caring for patients with a wide range of medical complexity, all within a mission-driven, collaborative environment.

Our fellowship is built upon the strength of a large and well-established Pediatric Hospital Medicine group in California, combined with an institutional commitment to graduate medical education. Fellows are valued members of our team, trusted with progressive autonomy, supported by dedicated faculty, and empowered to grow as clinicians, educators, and leaders.

We take pride in fostering a culture that emphasizes mentorship, professional development, and meaningful scholarly work, particularly in quality improvement, medical education and health equity. Our goal is to prepare fellows not only to provide outstanding clinical care, but also to lead and innovate in diverse practice settings after graduation.

At Valley Children’s, you will find more than a training program; you will find a community that is deeply committed to its patients, its learners, and each other.

We look forward to getting to know you and sharing more about our program.
