Bravery Comes in All Shapes and Sizes

Pro quarterback Derek Carr and his wife, Heather, have a very personal connection to Valley Children’s. When their oldest son, Dallas, was born in 2013, he was rushed into emergency surgery at Valley Children’s because of intestinal malrotation, a potentially life-threatening condition that affected his blood supply and intestinal tract.

Dallas underwent two more surgeries and spent more than three weeks in Valley Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Today, he is a healthy and happy kindergartener.

Derek has seen firsthand the bravery of the smallest patients, their parents and the doctors and nurses who care for families.
