Valley Children's Child Life Internship Program

A child life internship is the final step in the process of working toward a career as a Certified Child Life Specialist. The internship program at Valley Children’s Hospital is offered twice a year during the Winter/Spring and Fall semesters. This full-time, 600-hour internship takes place over 15 weeks under the direct supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist. The program reviews the Child Life Clinical Internship Curriculum approved by the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP).

Interns are paired with a Certified Child Life Specialist who provides supervised and guided experiences with children while supporting the development of professional child life skills. Rotations vary and may require weekend and evening shifts. Interns will experience a variety of inpatient and outpatient areas throughout the semester. In addition to hands-on training, interns will have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary rounds, in-service trainings and other continuing education opportunities.

Valley Children's Hospital follows the ACLP's recommended application deadlines found on their website.
