Fall brings lots of things to the Central Valley - cooler weather, autumn leaves and the opportunity to have fun with your family at the fair! Valley Children’s is proud to partner with local fairs in our region to keep the fun close to home. Hear from our friends at the Madera Fair on ways you can have fun and stay safe at the fair this year!

Tips to stay happy and healthy at the fair:

Be sure to track your steps! See how many steps you take during your whole visit to the fair.

Enjoy time with your loved ones! Getting out of the house to have fun and spend time with your family is not only good for your physical health, but your mental health too.

Try a new, healthy food item! Many of the fair food vendors offer heart-healthy food options. From grilled kabobs to fresh ceviche – there are many healthy options available at the Madera Fair!

Stay hydrated! Drink plenty of water throughout the day and remember each patron of the fair can bring one sealed bottle with them to the grounds!

Ensure your child can find you if you get separated! Take advantage of the contact wristbands given to each child inside the gates of the Madera Fair or at your local fair. In the unlikely event you are separated from your child, the wristbands will have a space for you to write your phone number so you and your child can quickly be reconnected.

Find some shade! There are plenty of places to sit and relax at the fair. Be sure to take breaks, limit sun exposure during the hottest parts of the day and apply sunscreen throughout your time at the fair.

Utilize hand wash stations! There are hand wash stations throughout the fair for attendees to utilize. Consider using them after things such as playing games or visiting livestock.

Follow all fair rules and guidelines! These are put in place to help keep you and your little ones safe. It is important to follow height restrictions and age limits on rides and games.

Enjoy your time at the fair by using these tips to stay safe and healthy! The Madera Fair runs from September 5-8 and is free for ALL attendees on September 5! For more information on the fair, visit https://www.maderafair.com/.
