Technology makes it easier to steam vegetables. You can buy fresh or frozen packages designed for microwaving without the need to pick the stems or even wash the beans.
1 pound fresh or frozen whole green beans
1/2 cup sliced almonds
Butter-flavored cooking spray
Microwave beans according to package directions. Spray sliced almonds lightly with butter-flavored cooking spray and toast lightly in a small nonstick frying pan. Add to cooked beans.
