About Me
Dr. Zachary Barbara joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric critical care specialist in August 2025.
Dr. Barbara earned his medical degree from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed pediatric residency at Shands Hospital for Children in Florida. During this time, Dr. Barbara received a certificate in instructional design from the University of Florida College of Education. He then went on to receive specialized training as a pediatric critical care fellow at Emory University School of Medicine, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in Georgia and received a second certificate in biomedical ethics at Emory University Center for Ethics.
Dedicated to physician education and teaching, Dr. Barbara has served in several roles as an instructor at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, including providing lectures to critical care fellows. In addition, Dr. Barbara has presented his research in presentations at several physician conferences and symposiums and is also a member of several professional societies including the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Passionate about pediatric critical care, Dr. Barbara’s clinical interests include point of care ultrasound (POCUS), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and resuscitation.
