Victoria Acharya, MD

Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hospital medicine, Dr. Victoria Acharya began working at Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2007 as a pediatric hospitalist. In addition to her clinical duties, Dr. Acharya serves on several advisory committees at Valley Children’s Hospital, including as a member of the Ethics Committee and Health Information Management Committee. She is also a member of the Wellness Committee and serves as the hospitalist wellness lead.

Prior to joining Valley Children's Specialty Medical Group, Dr. Acharya trained pediatric residents rotating at Valley Children’s Hospital as core faculty with the University of California, San Francisco - Fresno Pediatric Residency Program. While serving as assistant professor of pediatrics with UCSF, Dr. Acharya also served as Medical Director of Inpatient Pediatrics at Community Regional Medical Center. In addition, she established the UCSF Fresno Global Health Curriculum. She has held clinical positions with several large medical organizations throughout California, including Kaweah Delta Health Care District and Kaiser Permanente.

Dr. Acharya completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, during which she spent a year studying abroad at the Institut d’Études Européennes, Institut Catholique, and Institut d’Études Politiques in Paris. After graduating, Dr. Acharya spent two and a half years as a volunteer with the Peace Corps working as a health educator in Togo, West Africa before returning to the United States for medical school.

After receiving her medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, she went on to complete her pediatric residency training at Phoenix Children’s Hospital/Maricopa Medical Center Pediatric Residency Program in Phoenix.

Dr. Acharya is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and has been a Fellow of the AAP since 2001. She is a member of the AAP’s Sections on Bioethics, Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine, Hospital Medicine, and Global Health.

Throughout her career, Dr. Acharya has been dedicated to serving children at home and abroad. She has observed in medical settings in Sri Lanka and Mexico, as well as the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Reservation in Arizona.
