About Me
Dr. Steven Engebretsen joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric otolaryngologist in 2024. He provides advanced surgical care as a pediatric cochlear implant surgeon at Valley Children's Hospital as part of Valley Children's Pediatric Cochlear Implant Program team.
Dr. Engebretsen is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He has delivered numerous educational presentations and contributed to academic publications, including textbook chapters, journal articles and more.
Dr. Engebretsen completed his bachelor’s degree at Brigham Young University and received his medical degree from the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Detroit Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. Dr. Engebretsen’s interests in pediatrics led him to complete a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at the University of California, San Francisco.
In his free time, Dr. Engebretsen volunteers with and currently serves as treasurer of the The Madgy Malawi Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the otolaryngology surgical training of surgeons in Malawi and other African nations.
