About Me

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, Dr. Richard Sidlow joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2020.

Dr. Sidlow earned a doctorate of medicine from the State University of New York-Health Science Center at Brooklyn and completed internship and residency in combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Staten Island University Hospital-Northwell Health in New York, assuming the role of Associate Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics there in 2010 while serving in other leadership roles in the areas of quality assurance, medical education and research. He subsequently completed his fellowship in medical genetics and genomics at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2020.

Dr. Sidlow’s is an active contributor to the medical literature, having been published in the American Journal of Human Genetics, American Journal of Medical Genetics, European Journal of Human Genetics, Human Genetics, HGG Advances, Nature Communications, Frontiers of Cellular Neuroscience, Frontiers in Neurology and Frontiers of Pediatrics, among other peer reviewed journals. His research interests include neurogenetics, skeletal dysplasias, channelopathies, and telegenetics.

Active in the medical community, Dr. Sidlow is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Collee of Physicians, American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and is a member of the American Society of Human Genetics, the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, the International Skeletal Dysplasia Society, the Society of Inherited Metabolic Disorders, the Society for the Study of Inborn Errors of Metabolism and the Mitochondrial Medicine Society.

In addition to maintaining an active telegenetics practice at Valley Children’s Hospital and clinical institutions across the country, Dr. Sidlow serves as a clinical, research and career mentor to students and faculty at all levels of training at all these sites.
