About Me

Providing care at both Valley Children’s Hospital and Kaweah Health in Visalia, Dr. Nicolas Garza joined Valley Children’s Medical Group as a pediatric hospitalist in August 2026.

After receiving his medical degree from UC Davis School of Medicine, Dr. Garza completed his pediatric residency at Valley Children’s Hospital, affiliated with the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Garza has contributed to research on hospital care and pediatric topics, leading to developments in non-invasive brain stimulation, biofeedback therapies and quality improvement initiatives focused on telehealth utilization for inpatient pediatrics and the accuracy of intake and output measurements on acute care floors. Dr. Garza has also published peer-reviewed publications on pediatric issues, including vision loss and the association between obstructive sleep apnea and asthma, with work appearing in journals such as the Child’s Nervous System, the official journal of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery. Dr. Garza has also presented at various conferences, including, at the national level, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Annual Conference.

In addition to his involvement on hospital committees, Dr. Garza has served and advocated for his community through various volunteer efforts. He has participated in mentorship programs, volunteered in Ghana as a Madventurer clinical, public health and educational volunteer and coached t-ball at Clovis Community Sports and Recreation. Dr. Garza has also contributed to Valley Children’s Blog, writing about creative ways to make vegetables fun for picky eaters.
