About Me
Dr. Mehmet Karliyil is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and serves in Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pediatric emergency medicine physician, joining the team in August 2025.
Dr. Karliyil received his medical degree from Ankara University Medical School in Turkey. His pediatric residency training included rotations at Metropolitan Hospital Center and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, as well as Maimonides Hospital in Brooklyn, providing broad experience across diverse clinical settings and patient populations.
Complementing his clinical background, Dr. Karliyil earned a law degree from Touro Law in New York, reflecting his interest in the intersection of medicine, ethics and public policy.
Beyond the emergency department, Dr. Karliyil is passionate about mathematics and physics. He practices Japanese martial arts (Okinawan kata) daily and enjoys hiking - especially exploring Yosemite - as well as drawing, reading classic literature, and learning about Native American culture and history.
