About Me
Board certified in general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Katy Ruch joined the neonatology team at Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in October 2025.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Ruch served as a neonatologist at the Perinatal Medical Group, Community Regional Medical Center and Clovis Community Medical Center. She was also an assistant clinical professor volunteer at UCSF Fresno and currently holds the position of associate medical director for the Community Regional Medical Center's NICU.
Dr. Ruch earned her medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency training at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland. She then went on to complete a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Oregon Health and Science University.
Dr. Ruch’s areas of research interest include improving neonatal resuscitation and transport medicine, extending high-quality neonatal care from academic centers to surrounding rural communities and applying pulmonary function testing to better understand and treat lung disease in newborns. She has published research and presented her findings at invited lectures and conferences, including the Pediatric Academic Societies Conference and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Neonatal Perinatal Medicine District VIII Conference.
Dr. Ruch is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and participates in its Women in Neonatology, Trainees and Early Career Neonatologists and District VIII Section on Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine groups.
