Douglas Jones, DO

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and pediatric critical care, Dr. Douglas “Mac” Jones joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in July 2025.

Dr. Jones received his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Des Moines, Iowa and completed his pediatric residency at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Jones then continued to complete a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California. He rounded out his education with a second fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dedicated to research, Dr. Jones has used his studies to present and publish his works on antibiotic pharmacology, extubation readiness and spinal fluid dynamics. His participation in various research groups (the Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at University of California, San Diego, the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Nemours Children’s Hospital, and the NASA Reduced Gravity Education Flight Program at Boise State University) bolstered his knowledge and understanding of the nuances of pediatric care.

Dr. Jones is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and has dedicated his time to studying medical ethics by participating as a member of bioethics boards or committees at every step of his training.

In his free time, he enjoys poetry, pick-up basketball, cycling, and finding opportunities to lie in a hammock.
