Cristo Guardado Salazar, MD

Dr. Cristo Guardado Salazar joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a pathologist in 2023.

His passion for pathology is reflected in his publicized research, which includes a study where, along with others, he examined a solitary fibrous tumor in the small bowel that coexisted with a mesentery neuroendocrine tumor. He has presented his research at a various events, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, where he presented on the utilization of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) autoantibody panel tests in patients presenting with neurologic alterations.

Dr. Guardado Salazar is an active member of several professional organizations including, the National Medical Examiner Office Association, the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists and Society Pediatric Pathology.

After graduating from Universidad Evangelica de El Salvador with a Doctorate in Medicine, Dr. Guardado Salazar went on to complete his residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where he was Chief Resident from June 2020 to June 2021. He completed his pediatric pathology fellowship at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles Children’s Hospital from July 2022 to June 2023.

When Dr. Guardado Salazar is not working, he enjoys playing soccer, watching movies, trying new foods and traveling.
