About Me
Board-certified and fellowship-trained, Dr. Brian Hernandez joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2023 as a pediatric cardiologist at the Willson Heart Center.
After earning his medical degree from the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine, Dr. Hernandez completed a residency in pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. He continued specialized training as a pediatric cardiology fellow at Washington University-St. Louis Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Hernandez is committed to mentorship and ongoing medical education to advance the field of pediatric cardiology. As a pediatric cardiology fellow, he provided formal teaching to pediatric residents and peers as a lecturer and journal club presenter. He is also a member of the Fetal Heart Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Hernandez has presented his research in oral and poster presentations at a variety of regional and national physician conferences and symposiums, and his work has been accepted for publication in the American Journal of Pediatrics and Pulmonary Circulation. Dr. Hernandez’s prior research focused on glucocorticoid therapy in infants with pulmonary hypertension, and the accuracy of VO2 max with smart watches in healthy and Fontan pediatric patients. His areas of clinical interest include general cardiology and advanced fetal echocardiography.
When he is not helping patients, Dr. Hernandez enjoys spending time with his wife and infant son, running, golfing and playing soccer.
