About Me

Upon completing her pediatric residency at Valley Children’s Hospital through the UC San Francisco-Fresno residency program, Dr. Monica Ruiz-Cangco joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group as a hospitalist in 2017.

She completed her undergraduate degree in kinesiology from Arizona State University where she made the National Dean’s Honor List. She went on to graduate medical school from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. During that time, Dr. Ruiz-Cangco volunteered for medical missions in Honduras and the Dominican Republic. She also worked for Banner Health in Phoenix where she, among other works, developed and implemented exercise programs for cardiac and gastric bypass patients as an exercise physiologist.

While a resident, Dr. Ruiz-Cangco was a sub-investigator working with Valley Children’s doctors from orthopedic surgery and hospitalists on research focusing on understanding if early orthopedic consultations in uncomplicated acute hematogenous osteomyelitis – bone infections – decreased length of stays for pediatric patients.
