Nursing Outreach Education
Valley Children’s Hospital is committed to advancing neonatal care throughout the region through collaborative outreach education initiatives and partnerships with referring and affiliate hospitals. Our Neonatal Outreach Education Program is designed to support the ongoing educational needs of healthcare professionals caring for neonatal patients across a variety of clinical settings.
As the region’s only Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Valley Children’s provides comprehensive neonatal outreach education and consultation services focused on promoting evidence-based practice, enhancing clinical competencies, and improving neonatal outcomes throughout the communities we serve.
The Neonatal Outreach Education Program offers, but is not limited to:
- Professional consultation for the development, review, and revision of neonatal standards, protocols, policies and procedures
- Guidance regarding maternal/fetal and neonatal consultation practices
- Referral and transport guidelines for hospitals providing basic, intermediate and community-level neonatal intensive care services
- Medical, nursing and ancillary staff education programs with collaboratively selected topics tailored to the needs of each facility
- Annual review of neonatal patient data and clinical outcomes
- Customer service and program assessment support
The goals of the Neonatal Outreach Education Program are to assess the neonatal educational needs of regional hospitals, develop individualized educational curricula based on identified needs, and provide comprehensive neonatal education that supports high-quality patient care across the continuum of neonatal services.
