Valley Children's Children's Book Series

To celebrate the wonder and imagination of childhood, Valley Children's has published a collection of books, including a series starring our beloved mascot, George the Giraffe. George represents the heart of Valley Children’s – kindness, caring for others and comforting those who need our help. Books in George's series are written and illustrated by local moms who all have a personal connection to Valley Children’s.

As part of our commitment to children's well-being, Valley Children’s Literacy Program will add these books to their distribution of approximately 2,000 books a month to kids from Bakersfield to Modesto. The intent of the program is to place new books in the hands of children in a region with some of the lowest literacy rates in the nation and to improve early literacy by instilling in children a love of reading.

Valley Children's books are currently available for purchase at various locations throughout the Central Valley. Proceeds benefit Valley Children’s patients and programs, and support our mission of providing the best healthcare for children.

We encourage you to introduce your children to the joy of reading and invite you to pick up a book with your child and join George on one of his adventures!
