Why did you choose Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency?
When I began medical school, I knew I wanted a program committed not only to developing my skills as a physician, but also to equipping me to make a meaningful impact in my community. During my audition rotations, I experienced a culture of kindness and strong teamwork, with a shared belief that a supportive learning environment is essential to delivering high-quality patient care. In speaking with staff and residents, I was especially drawn to the variety of ways they engaged with the community beyond the hospital, which reinforced the program’s mission and values. These experiences made it clear that Valley Children’s was the right fit for me.
Hobbies:
In my spare time, I love to explore the community with my wife and our dog Lou. Finding new places to eat, new hikes or trying any new experience to get us moving. I love to golf and play pickleball or any other group sport. If it’s too cold outside, you can find me in the kitchen or on the couch watching the 49ers!
Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments:
My research has focused on improving patient outcomes while fostering interest in pediatrics within my medical school. As part of a research team, I worked to standardize pediatric care training and improve patient retention to increase vaccination rates in the Central Valley. I also enhanced our curriculum by using point-of-care ultrasound to teach first-year medical students vaccination techniques. Together, these efforts reflect my commitment to increasing pediatric engagement both on campus and in the community.
Care Philosophy:
As a pediatrician, it is my responsibility to establish a foundation where each child has the opportunity to thrive. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where patients and their families feel heard, respected and actively involved in their care. I am committed to advocating for my patients beyond the clinic by addressing barriers to care and promoting preventive health. Ultimately, I hope to serve not only as a physician, but as a reliable partner in each child’s growth and well-being.
