Epilepsy Caped Crusaders: A Walk/Run for a Cause
In honor of Epilepsy Awareness Month this November, the Epilepsy Support Program at Valley Children’s invites you to spread awareness through a “get active campaign” in your community. We're kicking it off with the first-ever free, virtual Epilepsy Caped Crusaders: A Walk/Run for a Cause! Walk, run, join a class online, bike or hike for 26 minutes a day for entire month of November; any fitness activity will do.
Why 26 minutes? We're raising awareness of the 1 in 26 people in the United States who will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. The first 500 participants who register for this free, virtual event will receive a purple cape, signifying epilepsy awareness!
How to get involved
Assemble your team! Let friends and family know about the Epilepsy Caped Crusaders Walk/Run for a Cause and together, commit to each dedicated 26 minutes throughout November to activity in honor of those living with epilepsy.
**Be sure to follow all state and local COVID-19 guidelines.
Brainstorm a team name. Come up with some fun ideas for a team name, and decide how your team wants to be represented. Whether it's your superhero alter-ego team name or you want to represent as your family's name is up to you!
Designate a team captain. This person will register your team and will make sure everyone gets their purple Epilepsy Caped Crusaders Walk/Run for a Cause cape and other goodies once you're registered!
Wear purple, put your cape on, and get active! Make a goal to be active for 26 minutes a day throughout November to raise awareness of the 1 in 26 Americans who will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. Don't forget to take photos of your team being active and tag Valley Children's, along with the event hashtags: #EpilepsyCapedCrusaders and #VCHepilepsysupport!
Join our Epilepsy Caped Crusaders this November in the fight against epilepsy!
