Why did you choose Valley Children's Pediatric Residency Program?
I was drawn to the opportunities for community outreach and advocacy. After attending a virtual information session with the leadership team, I appreciated the sense of community between the residents and faculty in which I share this team-oriented mindset.
Hobbies: Being active (hiking, yoga, anything outdoors), tea-infused ice cream and chocolate, creative writing and haiku poetry.
Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments: My previous research experiences focused on creating a collaborative model to provide health education to refugee populations in Seattle. My previous community engagement accomplishments include hosting nutritional fairs at elementary schools to provide education about healthy low-cost meals.
Care Philosophy: My goal is to encourage children to take ownership of their growing bodies and health. I believe treating the mind, body, and spirit allows for the best health outcome. As a pediatrician, I can serve as a first resource for normalizing mental health and act as an ally, educating and listening with empathy.
