Board certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, Dr. Fouzia Naeem joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric infectious disease specialist in July 2012.

Fouzia Naeem, MDDr. Naeem has published in peer-reviewed publications such as “Journal of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.” Her main research has been determining the role of inflammatory markers in differentiating bacterial and viral community acquired pneumonia in hospitalized immunocompetent patients, a substudy of a multicenter Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Etiology of Pneumonia in the Community study. She has also done a retrospective study in distinguishing intrathoracic masses of infectious origin and malignant masses in a histoplasma endemic region.

Dr. Naeem received her medical degree from Sindh Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. She completed a pediatric internship at the National Institute of Child Health, and a pediatric residency at Aga Kahn University Hospital, both in Karachi, Pakistan. She did a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

Dr. Naeem completed another pediatric internship and residency at Elmhurst Hospital affiliated with Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, N.Y. She did a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at University of Tennessee Health Science Center/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She also obtained her master’s degree in epidemiology from University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Naeem is a member of several professional societies, including the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, Infectious Diseases Society of America, American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Association of Pakistani Physicians of North America. She is a member of Specialty Medical Group.

In her free time, Dr. Naeem enjoys spending time with her family and listening to music.
