Maria Teruel, DO
Hometown:
Vallejo, California
About Me:
My name is Maria Teruel and I am a wife and mother to three (crazy) wonderful boys (and one large dog). I was born in the Philippines and raised in Vallejo, California. I am passionate about caring for underserved children and giving my best to equip them with the tools they need to reach every potential to have healthy and happy lives. When I’m not busy being a resident, I love spending time with my family and friends.
Why I chose Valley Children’s:
I chose Valley Children’s because the values and goals of the program best align with my own. I wanted to be part of this program made up of intelligent, passionate individuals all working towards providing the best care possible for these well-deserving yet underserved kids and their families. Furthermore, the ethnic diversity, strong female leadership and sense of community and family reaffirm that this is the right training program for me.
Hobbies:
I enjoy being outside, spending time with my family at the park or having dance parties at home, watching movies, going to the beach, reading and binge watching shows on Netflix/Amazon.
Advocacy Accomplishments:
I presented a talk (“Oh Baby!”) regarding infant care at the annual Fresno Teen Parent Conference and will present a talk on hygiene at the Fresno Transitional Center for homeless youth which includes assembling and distributing free hygiene kits.
