Valley Children’s Honored as “Best Children’s Hospital” by The Women’s Choice Award

Valley Children’s Hospital has been named as a Best Children’s Hospital and Best Children’s Hospital for Emergency Care by the Women’s Choice Award, a trusted referral source for excellence in healthcare.

“The Women’s Choice Awards reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering the best healthcare for kids throughout Central California,” says Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “I thank our team of doctors, nurses and staff for always putting the health and safety of our kids first and for working tirelessly to provide families with the highest level of care each and every day.”

“Our Best Children’s Hospitals award helps raise awareness of the top quality care offered for children – not only the critically ill – with specialists, services and technologies for their unique needs,” said Delia Passi, founder and CEO of the Women’s Choice Award, and former publisher of Working Woman and Working Mother magazines. “Our goal is to help moms and parents make educated, confident decisions about where to take their children for a wide range of healthcare services.”

The designation of Best Children’s Hospitals is based on a point system and self-reported data from almost 100 children’s hospitals nationwide. Hospitals are judged according to the availability of specific services and capabilities, including:

  • Family-centered care
  • Dedicated pediatric emergency department
  • Pediatric ICU
  • Neonatal ICU
  • Child life specialists
  • Use of telehealth technologies
  • Participation in pediatric health research
  • Accreditation by the Joint Commission
  • Pediatric trauma center accreditation

“This award is so special to us because we not only had to meet strict levels of healthcare criteria, we also had to earn it from our community,” says Dr. David Christensen, Valley Children’s senior vice president, medical affairs, and chief physician executive. “Only hospitals that achieve high levels of patient satisfaction are eligible to even earn the award. We now join an elite network of healthcare facilities across the country committed to empowering women to make smart healthcare choices. We are so proud of that accomplishment and will continue working toward keeping the trust of the families we serve.”
