Valley Children’s Research on Myofibromatosis Published in American Journal of Pediatrics

(Madera, Calif.) – A case report recently conducted by two Valley Children’s physicians was published in the June 2020 issue of the American Journal of Pediatrics.

Invasive Myofibromatosis with Visceral Involvement in a Term Newborn: A Case Report” was written by Valley Children’s third year pediatric resident Dr. Erica Ortiz and Valley Children’s neonatologist Dr. Indira Chandrasekar and examines a case of infantile myofibromatosis, a rare disease characterized by solitary or multiple benign tumors.

The case report concludes that early diagnosis by pathology and genetic analysis in patients with extensive myofibromatosis will help to determine targeted chemotherapy and prognosis.
