Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and fellowship-trained, Dr. Reshma Patel joined Valley Children’s in September 2016 as a pediatric rheumatologist. Her special clinical interests include sports and exercise medicine along with various pediatric rheumatic conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, scleroderma, vasculitis, juvenile dermatomyositis, idiopathic uveitis and several other autoimmune conditions.
 
Dr. Patel is a resident mentor in the Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program, Affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine. She enjoys teaching medical students and residents, and was previously recognized as an “Excellent Teacher” as a chief resident and during her fellowship.
 
Dr. Patel has presented on topics in her field across the country. She has published her work in peer-reviewed publications such as “Nucleic Acids Research.”
 
She is a member of several professional organizations, including American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Rheumatology, Arthritis Foundation Pacific Region and American Medical Association.
 
Dr. Patel received her medical degree from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University School of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, Illinois. She did her internship and residency in pediatrics at UMDNJ – Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she also stayed on as a chief resident. She completed her fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, California.
 
Her multilingual capabilities include Gujarati, Hindi and basic Spanish.
 
In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, cooking, sewing, DIY projects and spending time with her husband, young son and family.
