About

Dr. Purushottam Gholve, also known as Dr. Puru, came to Valley Children’s as a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon in 2018. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Prior to joining Valley Children’s, Dr. Gholve was an assistant professor of Orthopaedics at the Tufts University School of Medicine and chief of the Hip Preservation Program at Floating Hospital for Children in Boston. He has treated patients with complex hip disorders. Beyond hip problems, he specializes in limb lengthening and deformity correction using a computerized external fixator frame or a magnet controlled intramedullary rod.

He completed his pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and adolescent and young adult hip fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Gholve is also a prolific clinical researcher, having written multiple articles, chapters and abstracts for a number of books and publications, including the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics and the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. Since moving to Central California he is conducting research on musculoskeletal aspects of Valley fever- coccidioidomycosis.

His personal interests include running, hiking and other outdoor activities, and he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
