Board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. James Hole joined Valley Children’s as the medical director of the Maternal Fetal Center in 2019.

Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Hole was the director of antepartum medicine and perinatal outreach at WellSpan Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Pennsylvania. He also has many years of experience as an assistant professor in the division of maternal-fetal medicine at the University of South Alabama and as a maternal-fetal specialist at Maternal Fetal Medicine of Central Pennsylvania. In addition to maternal-fetal medicine, his areas of specific interest include fetal therapy and fetal echocardiography.

Dr. Hole is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Osteopathic and Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. He has shared his expertise through various lectures, presentations, posters and peer-reviewed publications including Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, Ultrasound in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility and Assisted Reproduction.

Dr. Hole earned a doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Michigan State University. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology through Riverside Hospital in Michigan and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine through Rockford Memorial Hospital in Illinois.
