Dr. Andrew Kim joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric intensivist in July 2015. In 2016, he became the academic chief of the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), where he focused on developing a rotation where residents are empowered to learn. He has been actively involved in the residency program since its inception and in 2020 his role expanded to include Associate Program Director of the Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program.

Education has always been an integral part Dr. Kim’s career because he sees it as an important tool that can shape the future generation of physicians. Dr. Kim received his medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. He remained in Valhalla to do his pediatric residency at Westchester Medical Center. Dr. Kim completed his pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified in both pediatrics and pediatric critical care medicine and his areas of interests are medical education, global health, transport and foster care.

A community service devotee, Dr. Kim has been on several medical missions to Honduras, Cameroon and India.

Dr. Kim is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics.

In his spare time, Dr. Kim enjoys running, playing basketball, and hiking with his family.
