Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Ali Arastu joined Valley Children’s in 2020 as a pediatric critical care physician.
Dr. Arastu has been invited around the country to share his research on a variety of topics, including pediatric health in the wilderness. He has also been published in peer-reviewed journals such as A&A Practice and Wilderness Environment Medicine. He is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Critical Care Medicine and Wilderness Medical Society.
Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Arastu is passionate about educating and advocating for youth and their health. He is the founder and director of House of Stoked, a non-profit with the mission of using the wilderness as a platform to empower vulnerable youth to care for their own health and the health of the environment. He also sits on the board of directors for New Earth, an organization that provides mentor-based programs to empower juvenile justice and system involved youth; and an instructor for Advanced Wilderness Life Support, Inc., where he instructs on wilderness medicine knowledge and skills to medical professionals as continuing medical education (CME) credits.
After earning his medical degree from Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, Dr. Arastu completed both an internship and residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He then joined Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, Stanford University in Palo Alto, California where he completed a clinical fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine. During his fellowship, he received the Mary Duke Biddle Global Health Scholar award at Stanford University Center for Innovation in Global Health.
