Practice Philosophy

  • “I believe that fostering a partnership with my patients' families enables me to provide individualized, comprehensive, family-centered care. I listen closely to what my families say, recognizing that parents and caregivers know their children better than anyone else. I provide families with full explanations of medical terms and recommendations, and I strive to address all of their concerns and questions. By encouraging collaboration between myself and families, I aim to effectively and compassionately treat the whole patient, prioritizing both mental and physical wellness.”
A member of and Senior Policy and Advocacy Analyst for the Northern California Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Devon Ward joined Valley Children’s in August 2020 as a pediatrician at Sky Park Pediatrics in Fresno.

After earning her medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Ward went on to complete her pediatric residency training as part of the inaugural class of Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency Program, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ward is committed to advancing awareness of pediatric mental and behavioral health, and has presented research on identifying suicide risk in pediatric patients and on the importance of screening for postpartum depression. In addition to her scholarly work, Dr. Ward served on Valley Children’s Behavioral Health Work Group to develop more resources for pediatric behavioral health in healthcare, school and community settings.
