Board certified in general pediatrics and neonatal perinatal medicine by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Prashant Agarwal joined the neonatology team at Valley Children’s in 2021. 

Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Agarwal was the program director of the neonatal-perinatal medicine fellowship training program at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He was also the assistant professor of the clinical educator track at Wayne State University and Central Michigan University. With an extensive background in education, mentorship and teaching, Dr. Agarwal has shared his expertise with clinical residents and fellows through guidance on research and scholarly activities. 

Active in his field, Dr. Agarwal is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Society for Pediatric Research, International Cytokine and Interferon Society (ICIS) and part of Children's Hospitals Neonatal Consortium ECMO Focus group. He has shared his research and knowledge through various case reports, poster presentations and lectures. His work has been published in peer-reviewed publications including Journal of Perinatology, Journal of Pediatrics and Pediatrics. His work on ECMO and advanced therapies for respiratory and cardiac failure was recognized in the best abstract category at the 36th Annual Children’s National Symposium.

Dr. Agarwal earned his bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery from B.J. Medical College in India. He went on to complete his residency at Children’s Hospital of Michigan through Wayne State University where he also completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine.
