Board certified in cardiothoracic surgery by the American Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Edwin Petrossian is the medical director of cardiothoracic surgery. Valley Children's Cardiothoracic Surgery Program, whose surgeons are from Stanford University School of Medicine, is part of one the largest pediatric cardiothoracic surgical programs in North America.

Dr. Petrossian has expertise in complex pediatric and congenital cardiovascular surgical repairs. He has published several journal articles and book chapters with an emphasis on the extracardiac conduit Fontan operation. He is clinical professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Stanford University.

A graduate of the Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, Ill., Dr. Petrossian completed his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery residencies at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine-Montefiore Medical Center in New York, where he received the Leo M. Davidoff Outstanding Cardiothoracic Resident Teaching Award. He subsequently completed research and clinical fellowships in pediatric cardiac surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
