Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics, Dr. Marwan Ali joined Valley Children’s in 2018 as a maternal-fetal medicine specialist.

Dr. Ali was previously the attending physician in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. He has also worked in the department of obstetrics and gynecology as an assistant professor at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, and as a clinical instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

Dr. Ali specializes in high-risk pregnancies and has done extensive research in non-invasive prenatal testing, hereditary disorders and fetal anomalies. He is the co-author of A Practical Approach to the Diagnosis and Management of Fetal Genetic Disorders. He has also been published in several manuscripts, abstracts and peer-reviewed publications such as Prenatal Diagnosis, Clinics in Perinatology and The Journal of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Ali is embedded in his professional community as a member of the following organizations: International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis, Professional International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Organizations American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, American College of Medical Genetics and International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations.

Dr. Ali graduated magna cum laude in 2005 and received a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine in Egypt. He has also earned a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. Dr. Ali completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology from the University of Toledo, a fellowship in medical genetics from the University of California, San Francisco, and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine from Cornell University.

Dr. Ali speaks English, Spanish, Arabic and French. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and has done so competitively. He also partakes in scuba diving, windsurfing, squash and playing the piano.
