Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Katharine Long joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric emergency physician in August 2016. She has a special interest in resident education and simulation.  
 
Prior to coming to Valley Children’s, Dr. Long worked as an instructor of pediatrics at University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 2013.
 
Dr. Long has presented on a variety of topics in her field at national conferences. She has published her work in peer-reviewed publications, including “Annals of Emergency Medicine” and is involved in upcoming review articles and textbook contributions.
 
She is a member of several professional societies such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Emergency Physicians and Society for Pediatric Research.
 
Dr. Long received her medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. She did her internship and residency in pediatrics at University of California, San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. She then went on to complete her fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
 
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
