Board certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Brian Pugmire joined Valley Children’s in July 2016 as a diagnostic radiologist. His areas of special clinical interest include musculoskeletal imaging, gastrointestinal/abdominal imaging, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
 
Dr. Pugmire has presented his work nationally. He has published in respected peer-reviewed publications such as “Pediatric Radiology, “American Journal of Roentgenology” and “RadioGraphics.”
 
He is a member of several professional organizations, including the Society of Pediatric Radiology, American College of Radiology, American Medical Association, American Roentgen Ray Society, and Radiological Society of North America.
 
Recently completing his postgraduate medical education and training, Dr. Pugmire received his medical degree at University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He completed a transitional year internship at Scripps Mercy Hospital, San Diego, California. He did his residency in diagnostic radiology, including a focused year in musculoskeletal imaging and intervention, at Massachusetts General Hospital (a Harvard Medical School affiliated teaching hospital) in Boston, Massachusetts, where he also served as a chief resident. Dr. Pugmire then completed a fellowship in pediatric radiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.
 
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, playing the piano and listening to music, playing and watching sports, and reading.
