Fellowship-trained in pediatric orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Jill Friebele joined Valley Children’s in September 2015 as a pediatric orthopaedic surgeon. She has a special interest in pediatric orthopaedic trauma and fracture care, clubfoot, and lower extremity deformity.

Dr. Friebele is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. 

Dr. Friebele has contributed to a variety of research projects and presentations on musculoskeletal tumors, cerebral palsy and foot deformity, pediatric femoral fractures and other topics.

Dr. Friebele received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She did her orthopaedic surgery residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She completed a clinical fellowship in pediatric orthopaedics at the University of California, Davis, and Shriners Hospital for Children of Northern California in Sacramento, California. She is board eligible.

Dr. Friebele has been awarded a number of grants, awards, and scholarships over the course of an impressive academic career, including the International Pediatric Orthopaedic Society Tuition Scholarship in 2011 and 2013, and the AAP Section on Orthopaedics Global Outreach Mentored Scholarship award in 2014.

Dr. Friebele has a passion for mentoring young adults and she has volunteered with the Perry Initiative to inspire young women to become leaders in orthopaedics and engineering. She is also a member of Health Volunteers Overseas; a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the availability and quality of healthcare in developing countries, and has participated in a number of medical missions.   

A member of USA Triathlon and US Masters Swimming, she also enjoys in her free time hiking, biking, swimming, running, scuba diving, and competes in half and full marathons, open-water swimming races, and triathlons.
